One source of resistance Enterococci may be coastal waters. One of the contamination resources is presence of bacteria in bathing waters. This study was performed during the year, out of 180 samples which collected in 15 prefectures in western regions of Guilan province ( Astara, Talesh an_d port of Anzali) were analysed for amount of heavy metals an_d the presence of resistant Enterococci to the some of heavy metals . Also, we measured the parameters including dissolved oxygen, pH , phosphate an_d Nitrate contents. Enumeration of bacteria performed with MPN method. confirmation of isolated Enterococcus spp. were carried out by chemical an_d differential tests. In addition, amount of heavy metals in water samples determined by atomic absorption method. Determination of susceptibility isolated Enterococcus spp to the heavy metals (Fe, Pb, Co, Zn, Cr, Cd) used microdilution broth technique. Out of 180 samples, presence of Enterococcus was confirmed in 135 cases, that was aboat 68 E. faecium, 36 cases of E. faecalis. lead was the highest measured among other heavy metals. Identification of Enterococcus spp. All of Enterococci strans showed high-level resistance against lead, zinc an_d ferrous. Heavy metals enter the environment through different sources an_d irreversible affect on different organisms. Based on research conducted Enterococci able to transfer resistance genes to other opportunistic bacteria, also bacteria that carry genes resistant metals Can develop resistance against antibiotics this causes treatment of the infectious diseases would be more problematic an_d costly.
